Holiday Wishlist

The holidays are so soon, meaning gingerbread cookies, eggnog, Fair Isle fuzzy knee socks, and holiday-themed department store windows are all approaching. But with that cheer comes a bit of anxiety; what to buy for everyone can be sort of stressful. Being the OCD person that I am, I started to make wish lists for the people in my life back in October. Here are some of my wishes:

2. Voyage Vanity Case, $25 via ModCloth
3. Bean Boots, $94 via L.L. Bean
5. New York Stories DVD, $13 via Amazon
7. Vintage Red Plaid Purse, $9 via Etsy
9. Tsumori Chisato Nomad Scarf, $326 via Otte
10. The I Love Trader Joe's Cookbook, $10 via Barnes & Noble
11. PJ by Peter Jensen Bunny Sweater, $88 via Urban Outfitters
In retrospect, I realize that both of the sets I made have sort of a school-girl-with-a-twist look to them. The orange cameo from Anthropologie is a throwback to something I would have found in my grandmother’s jewelry box; it has this mysterious, vintage-y look to it. The DVD featured is called New York Stories. I’ve wanted to see it for a really long time, specifically one of the mini-movies in it, Life without Zoe, directed by a young Sofia Coppola. A mixture of bohemian-meets-Eloise, it’s supposed to be great. I found these Laduree candles from Opening Ceremony. I don’t really ever use candles, but they’re so romantic. Plus if someone gave me a macaron-scented candle made by one of the most famous macaron purveyors in the world, I would use it every opportunity I got; it would be too scrumptious not to. Last note on this set is about the Trader Joe’s cookbook. I had to put it in there, because who doesn’t love Trader Joe’s?!??!

1. Comme des Garcons Play, $360 via Opening Ceremony
2. Pendleton Bath Towel, $48 via Urban Outfitters
3. "Issa" Ring, $365 via Billy Bride Jewelry
4. Franny and Zooey By J.D. Salinger, $10.50 via Amazon
5. Holiday Cropped PJ Top, $138 via Steven Alan
6. Holiday PJ Shorts, $78 via Steven Alan
8. Polka-dot Ponyhair Flats, $336 via Opening Ceremony
9. Gingerbread Man Ankle Socks, $6 via Topshop
10. Plaid Chiffon Skirt, $42 via American Apparel
I’m completely and utterly in love with this burgundy cardigan by Comme des Garcons. While it might seem a tad simple for a wish list, it’s a basic that I would wear with everything, in part because their heart logo is just so happy. To its right is a Pendleton towel from Urban Outfitters. Pendleton is one trend I can definitely get behind + this is fashion and function at its best. Also, ever since I stumbled upon an interview with designer, Samantha Pleet in which she explains her collection was inspired by J.D. Salinger’s Franny and Zooey, I’ve been intrigued by the novel. Samantha describes it as “that classic bohemian glamour of ’50′s, Smith College, Princeton University, waspy intellectuals emotionally stifled, but loveable in their upper crust Manhattan nervous breakdown lives. I can see lots of worn cashmere and loafers…” Lastly, the Topshop gingerbread men are the epitome of holiday spirit.
