Chictopia10

The Chictopia10 conference was a sucess! It was so interesting to hear all the panelists speak and to especially see SUSIE BUBBLE IN THE FLESH.
Where's Waldo?
I had the pleasure of meeting the very lovely, Taghrid.
fellow blogger, Hannah looks adorable at Chictopia10.
Susan Koger (ModCloth) and Naomi Nevitt (new media consultant extraordinaire.)
My favorite part of the conference was "Why we value individual style." I thought it was really interesting to hear from Susan Koger from Modcloth and Jennifer Wexler from Botkier bags, and how different and yet equally important they use, translate, and value their customer feedback. I even learned that on Modcloth's website you can "be the buyer" and choose clothing items that you'd like to see on the site.
Naomi Nevitt has been one of my career idols for quite a while. I love her style, voice, and I aspire to have a career as prosperous as hers. Naomi, whose clients include Rag & Bone and Proenza Schouler, was quoted in WWD from the Chictopia10 event.“There are so many different kinds of blogs. Personal style blogs, fashion news blogs, street photo blogs. It really is about designers seeing how important this is, and the ability to circulate this information so quickly is really important. They are starting to notice it. Streaming is huge. I see personal style blogs filling the role of the traditional stylist.”
Thanks Helen for putting together a great group!

Dear New York,

New York to me is like soup. There are many complex and individual ingredients, which complete the finished product. What would New York be without its blend of music, fashion, foods, languages, history, and people? Daily Candy's well-compiled interviews of some of New York's icons are a perfect juxtaposition with the ultimate New York fashion icon, Bryant Park- giving its last breath of fashion, at F/W 2010 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. As Fashion Week comes to a close, and a chapter in fashion history's book, ends, designers debut at Bryant Park one last time. As much of a somber tone this brings, designers like Peter Jensen, Rodarte, and Band of Outsiders brought life to the runway. My favorite designer to show this season, so far was Custo Barcelona. His collection debuted on Valentine's Day, featuring an intricate play on cosmic motifs, and as always, his signature patches of unexpected colors. This year's Fashion Week seemed to be all about texture, and the Custo Barcelona house hit it spot-on!

So I know Valentine's Day is all about loving your family and friends and stuff but here's me about to tell you about my profound love for Twitter. At first I found it so silly and didn't quite comprehend its purpose (other than to update myself on the whereabouts of The Real Housewives cast). But I'm growing increasingly fond of it. It's so funny getting to read celebrity tweets by Mindy Kaling and Sarah Silverman. Plus tweeting Stacey London and Naomi Nevitt is certainly worth my while. Follow my Twitter @emmaedition
