Polaroid Picnic

National Anthem vibes
Having a picnic is kind of like being on a magic flying carpet, only minus the flying. When you piece together your picnic blankets, it creates a little island atop the grass on which only delicious food, friends, games, and gingham matter.  My friend Dylan chose to spend his birthday having a picnic in Carl Schurz Park with a group of us and I've never seen so much food in my life.

It always seems like an unspoken picnic rule to wear gingham to a picnic.

If we were TRUE, expert picnic-ers we would have assigned each person a different type of food to bring so there was so layover, but I loved the hodge podge we ended up with. It was actually such a classy spread. There were pita chips, guacamole, HUMMUS (vital to every picnic, in my opinion), watermelon, crudités, cheese and crackers, lemonade, and for dessert, homemade cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. Dylan’s mom is Japanese and even made us all of these delicious tofu-skin wrapped sweet rice rolls and shrimp dishes. It's safe to say I was in heaven.

Here were are in the middle of an extreme game of Taboo. My friends and I take it pretty seriously...

Dylan is being a crankypants here because the Polaroid camera wasn’t working. He got his film from The Impossible Project. He bought their first-ever batch, and it has this sunset orange-y glow to it, which I personally like, but apparently they’re still changing their formulas to make them more saturated.

Wahoooo! The camera finally worked.
